Students at Work

Philisophy

At Discovery School Tours, our philosophy of learning is rooted in the belief that by fostering respect, leadership, innovation, and sustainability, we empower students to become global citizens who embrace diversity, inspire positive change, drive innovation, and prioritize the well-being of our planet.

Respect

Respect is a fundamental value that we prioritize in our educational programmes at Discovery School Tours. In particular, we believe in fostering an appreciation for multiculturalism and indigenous history, allowing students to develop a deep understanding of diverse cultures and traditions. As part of our tours to New Zealand, we provide educational visits to sacred Maori sites, offering students a unique opportunity to learn about the rich Maori heritage, customs, and traditions. By immersing themselves in these cultural experiences, students gain a greater respect for different perspectives, fostering empathy, and promoting cultural understanding.

Leadership

Leadership is a vital skill that we aim to cultivate in our students. Our educational programmes are designed to challenge students to achieve results in unfamiliar settings while working collaboratively within a team environment. Through various team-building activities, problem-solving exercises, and hands-on projects, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and take on leadership roles. They learn to communicate effectively, make decisions, and inspire others to achieve common goals. Our aim is to empower students to become confident leaders who can navigate challenges and inspire positive change in their communities.

Innovation & Entrepreneurship

New Zealand has a fascinating history of innovation and entrepreneurship, and we believe it's essential for students to understand the impact these elements have had on the country's development. Our programs provide valuable insights into how innovation and entrepreneurship have created thriving industries and brought wealth and accolades to New Zealand. Through interactive workshops, visits to innovative businesses, and engaging discussions, students learn about the entrepreneurial spirit that drives economic growth and fosters innovation. They gain a deeper appreciation for the power of creative thinking, problem-solving, and taking calculated risks to create positive change in society.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a pressing global concern, and New Zealand is known for its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable practices. Our programs highlight the importance of sustainability by exploring various initiatives and efforts undertaken in New Zealand to protect the environment. Students learn about sustainable practices in areas such as ocean conservation, forest preservation, and recycling programs within schools and communities. They gain an understanding of how New Zealand balances the need for economic development with sustainable practices, considering the long-term well-being of the environment. Our goal is to inspire students to become responsible global citizens who prioritize sustainability and actively contribute to creating a more sustainable future.

By integrating these four core learning competencies—respect, leadership, innovation & entrepreneurship, and sustainability—into our educational programs, we aim to provide students with a comprehensive and enriching learning experience. We believe that these fundamental values and skills will equip them to become well-rounded individuals who can navigate the complexities of the modern world, embrace diversity, lead with integrity, drive innovation, and champion sustainable practices.
